The Cricket Cranes put in a solid shift against Tanzania in their first warm-up game ahead of the final leg of the Challenge League B in Tanzania.
The two sides got a chance to play at the newly inaugurated ground, with the visitors winning the toss and electing to bat first.
Raghav Dhawan (54) and Simon Ssesazi (13) put on 58 for the opening stand before the latter departed, but Kenneth Waiswa (32) ensured that the scoreboard kept ticking.
Raghav’s innings were cut short to some discomfort, but Sumeet Verma (104) took responsibility alongside captain Riazat Ali Shah (65) to pile more misery on Tanzania.
Verma knocked his first century for the Cricket Cranes, even if it was an unofficial game. The Cricket Cranes piled on a team high of 314/5 in their quota of 50 overs.
Tanzania started bravely in the run chase, with Ivan Suleiman taking on the Cricket Cranes bowlers with his opening partner Dhrumit Mehta (41), but once the slow bowlers started operating, the runs dried up for Tanzania.
Joseph Baguma (2/45) got rid of the set Dhrumit Mehta, and combined well with Henry Ssenyondo (2/39) and Alpesh Ramjani (2/32), who offered the backup.
Tanzania ran out of steam with 211 runs on board in a high-scoring game.
The Cricket Cranes put in a morale-boosting performance before they take on Hong Kong China in their final pre-tournament game.
The Cricket Cranes will take on Tanzania in their opening game of the Challenge League on Saturday when the tournament gets started proper.
