• SC Villa 3-1 Maroons (4-2)

SC Villa secured a well-deserved 3-1 victory against Maroons in the FUFA Super 8 encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo on Tuesday evening.

The victory takes the Jogoo to the semi-finals of the pre-season tournament where they will take on NEC FC.

Frank Ssebuufu, Najib Yiga and Andrew Otim scored for SC Villa whole Maroons’ consolation goal was netted by Marvin Oshaba.

It was an emotional game as the football fraternity joined SC Villa to remember the fallen servant of the beautiful game, David Owori.

Before the game got underway, a minute of silence was observed before the game paused again in the 15th minute. All was done to celebrate Owori’s life.

Ssebuufu fired SC Villa in the lead in the seventh minute with a simple tap in thanks to Godfrey Lubangakene thus lighting up the cold crowd.

Yiga doubled SC Villa’s lead with a brilliant strike. Patrick Kakande was electric on the left flank before setting up Yiga for a great team attack.

Ten minutes into the second half, Isaac Mpagi nearly got his name on the score sheet after meeting Kakande’s delivery but the goalkeeper made a great save.

In the 63rd minute, Otim made it three for SC Villa after being set up by Reagan Mpande who laid in a well weighted delivery.

Oshaba struck one for Maroons at the death of the game but it was not enough to give the Prison Wardens anything positive on the day.
