KCCA head coach Brian Ssenyondo hopes the Fufa Super 8 triumph is the first of many more trophies to come to Lugogo under his tenure.

The Kasasiro edged NEC 1-0 at Hamz stadium, Nakivubo to end a seven year wait for any trophy since they won the Cecafa Kagame Cup in 2019 in Kigali.

“Of course, it is a good feeling when you win,” said Ssenyondo after Said Mayanja’s decisive goal. “Like I said, we are creating a winning mentality here so we can take this and hopefully it is the start of many more to come,” he added.

KCCA to live on the edge for larger parts of the game especially in the second half but held on to claim victory and Ssenyondo believes his side ought to do better with chances created.

“The first goal is very important and can win but we need to score more with the chances we create because we can’t be playing on the edge.

Today, we didn’t create many but the most important thing is that the boys held on.”

The 13-time league champions will hope to build on the pre-season win ahead of a highly anticipated competitive next season and this triumph is very important to instill a winning mentality.

“We have a team with a crop of young players that had never won anything so it is important to win. Yes, it is a pre-season tournament but it is a precursor to what we want to achieve this coming season,” explained Ssenyondo.

As per bookmakers, KCCA are among favourites to win the premier league next season that kicks off on August 28.
