Uganda Cranes playmaker Allan ‘Star boy’ Okello has completed a high-profile transfer to Moroccan heavyweights AS FAR Rabat, ending his brief but highly impactful stint in Tanzania.

The gifted attacking midfielder joins the Military Club on a three-year employment contract from Tanzanian powerhouse Young Africans (Yanga SC).

AS FAR Rabat officially unveiled the Ugandan international across their social media channels on Thursday, August 20, 2026, welcoming him to the squad ahead of the new campaign.

“Welcome to the ASFAR family, let’s fight for the colours and make this season unforgettable,” the club announced in a statement.

Okello’s move to North Africa comes on the heels of an extraordinary spell with Yanga. Having joined the Dar es Salaam side mid-season during the 2025/26 campaign.

The former Vipers SC talisman seamlessly adapted to the Tanzanian Premier League, lighting up the division with 14 goals and eight assists.

His final appearance for Yanga came in the fiercely contested Kariakoo Derby against arch-rivals Simba SC in the Tanzania Community Shield.

At AS FAR, Okello will reunite with head coach Pedro Gonçalves. The Portuguese tactician, who previously managed Okello at Yanga, was instrumental in getting the best out of the Ugandan playmaker.

The familiarity between player and coach is expected to play a crucial role in Okello’s integration into the Moroccan Botola Pro, as Gonçalves places significant trust in the creative midfielder’s vision and goal-scoring instincts.

Okello becomes the latest Ugandan star to test his mettle in North Africa, bringing a wealth of technical ability and momentum to Rabat as the club aims for domestic and continental glory this season.
