Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) successfully convened their 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at FUFA Hotel Kisaasi, Kampala on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The delegates wholesomely endorsed Roberts Kiwanuka to continue with the chairmanship role for another-four-year tenure until 2029.
Kiwanuka announced the new UYFA Executive Committee that has Farouk Kigongo as vice chairman Technical, while Twinbrook Sports Academy Director, Hajji Jaffer Ssenganda, was named vice chairman administration.

The executive committee also has Gad Batuse, Abbey Ssentongo Donaca, Mansour Kabugo, John Michael Erebu John, Betty Mayanja Nagadya, Peter Sserumaga, Francis Omara, Viloet Kalema and Fridah Mabeeri
Kiwanuka lauded the delegates for the trust vested untohim and pledged to work with all stakeholders towards rejuvenating youth football and strengthening talent identification and development across the country.
“The trust put in me is an opportunity to rejuvenate and partner with youth football stakeholders such that young talents are scouted and developed,” Kiwanuka highlighted.
He also hinted about the recently concluded process that required football academies to re-register with both UYFA and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA).
“Our academies were required to re-register with UYFA and FUFA. That process has taken almost a year, but it has helped us establish a new and more credible database of academies that are ready to participate in the development of youth football,” Kiwanuka added.
FUFA calls for unity and strategic planning
Ronald Barente, a FUFA Executive Committee Member (also chairperson of BUL Football Club), represented the FUFA President, Moses Magogo.
Barente commended UYFA for its contribution to the development of the beautiful game, describing youth football as the foundation upon which the future of Ugandan football is built.
Without you, there are no competitions, no talent development and no progress. To deliver this, we must remain united. I urge all stakeholders to protect, defend and promote the beautiful game. Division weakens us. Unity builds us.

Barente further emphasised the need to expand football to every corner of the country and encouraged stakeholders to appreciate their role in sustaining the game at grassroots level.
Our goal is clear: to have football felt and played in every homestead across the country. You are the pillars of the game. Your time, sacrifice and commitment keep football alive in communities across Uganda.

He also called upon football administrators and stakeholders to embrace strategic planning in all their activities.
“Every football activity must have a strategic plan. Let us think, plan and act with purpose so our decisions are deliberate and results are measurable. Football is our identity, our opportunity and our national pride,” Barente stated.
New academies approved
The AGM also approved several new members into the Uganda Youth Football Association as the body continues to broaden its reach and strengthen youth football development across the country.
The newly approved academies are; SACU Sports Academy (Buikwe), Heritage Sports Academy (Nakawa), Toronto City Soccer Academy (Makindye), Ssezibwa Sports Academy (Kayunga), Jinja SS Sports Academy (Jinja City), Dahlak Sports Academy (Makindye), Saved Athleticos Sports Academy (Rubaga), Aziz Kayondo Sports (Lwengo), Gombe Soccer Academy (Wakiso) and Iganga’s New Hope Soccer Academy.
For starters, Lwengo based Aziz Kayondo Sports Academy is owned by Uganda Cranes left back Abdul-Aziz Kayondo.
The successful conclusion of the 18th AGM sets the tone for a new chapter for UYFA, with renewed calls for unity, strategic planning and stronger partnerships aimed at identifying, nurturing and developing the next generation of Ugandan football talent.
