Finally, the complete fixture for the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season was released over the weekend with reigning champions Vipers set to host Entebbe UPPC on Friday.
The delay was due to some clubs’ failure to present stadiums fit to host premier league matches – some have passed while many have been left out as of now.
The MTN Omondi stadium will only host matches during day for now as the lighting has been found wanting for night matches implying that only Hamz stadium, Nakivubo and St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende are the only venues viable for matches under floodlights.
Shared venues
With only 10 stadia approved for an 18-team league, some venues will be shared.
Hamz stadium, Nakivubo will host the most teams with URA and Express who used the venue as home last season joined by UPDF and Entebbe UPPC whose Bombo Grounds and Fisheries Grounds in Entebbe failing to pass the Fufa licensing tests respectively.
MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo will have two teams; KCCA and NEC and the same will play to Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku where premier league football returns with SC Villa and Maroons using the venue as their home.
For the second season running, Rwamwanja stadium in Kamwenge will have premier league football with Mbarara City and Kigezi Home Boyz the tenants.
Kira Police Arena in Kamwokya is another stadium set to host two teams with Police and debutants Ntugasaze using it as their home.
Meanwhile, there is a new addition to premier league facilities in Hoima stadium which will be host to Kitara and Blacks Power for at least the first round of the season.
Only Fufa Technical Centre (BUL), St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende (Vipers) and Lugazi stadium, Najjembe (Lugazi) as well as Bukedea Comprehensive Sports Complex (Kataka) will have one team.
