Crispus Asiki came off the bench to score a last gasp equalizing goal for Kitara in a 1-1 draw with hosts SC Villa at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
Villa had taken an early lead in the 8th minute when Andrew Okumu opened his Jogoos’ account nodding home off Arnold Odong lay off from a well taken free kick.
The Jogoos, starting life at their new home were the better side in the first half and had a few good chances to extend lead but were wasteful.
Reagan Mpande was a culprit for missing a good opportunity in the second half when he was played on goal by Patrick Kakande.
Substitute Andrew Otim also fired over the bar from another good ball by Kakande.
Meanwhile, Kitara could have earlier levelled but George Senkaaba saw his effort cleared off the line when he had the goal at his mercy while Jimmy Kalema hit the post.
The visitors were relentless though with the coaches opting to throw on attackers Edson Agondeze, Isaac Amutuhaire, Asiki and Kabon Living and pressure paid off in the closing stages when a free kick from the latter found Asiki who headed home with literally the last kick of the game.
Villa will shift to attention to facing URA on Thursday September 3 at Nakivubo while Kitara turn attention to the Caf Confederation Cup when they face Mogadishu City on Sunday September 6.
Elsewhere, KCCA were stunned by NEC 2-0 at home, Mbarara City lost 1-0 to Police through Ivan Mayanja’s long-range strike, Lugazi beat visitors Kigezi Home Boyz 2-1 while Blacks Power restarted life in the premier league with a 1-0 win over fellow newcomers Ntugasaze at Hoima City stadium.
