Defender Livingstone Mulondo had a debut to remember for Lugazi as he scored a stoppage time winner to hand the Leaders maximum points in their opening game of the 2026/27 season.
Mulondo who recently joined Lugazi from Champions Vipers, got the winner in the second minute of stoppage time to lead the home side to a 2-1 win over newcomers Kigezi Homeboyz.
The other debutant in Cromwell Rwothomio had opened the scoring in the 66th minute to give Lugazi the lead in what was a closely contested match.
The visitors levelled matters in the 79th minute through Mike Walaga and looked destined to snatch a point.
However, with four minutes added to the normal time, Mulondo was well stationed to connect home from Frank Mulimi’s free kick.
The game marks a perfect start for Coach Abbey Kikomeko Bogere who was also taking charge of Lugazi for the first time.
Lugazi will return to action on Tuesday with a visit to Lugogo to face NEC who defeated KCCA 2-0. Kigezi HomeBoyz on the other hand will not be in action on matchday two because their fixture against Vipers was postponed due to the latter’s engagement in CAF Champions League.
