Schools Cricket Week

  • Final Match: Shree Sahajanand v Jinja SSS – 2:00 pm

Semifinal Results

  • Jinja SSS 126/7 beat Ntare School 71/9 by 55 runs
  • Shree Sahajanand 147/9 beat Busoga College Mwiri 75 all out by 72 runs.

Busoga College Mwiri will have to wait another year for a 21st crown after being run over by a very well-prepared Shree Sahajanand School.

Shree was able to avenge last year’s semifinal loss to Mwiri in a commanding win. Shree batted first and were in trouble at 76/6, but a rear-guard resistance pushed the total to a huge total of 147/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

Mwiri lost their reliable Ryan Agaba on the first ball of the second innings, and it was downhill from thereon; they eventually finished on 75 inside 15 overs for Shree to advance to their first Cricket Week final.

In the other semifinal, Jinja SSS defeated Ntare School by 55 runs to keep their hopes for a fifth cricket week crown alive.

Jinja SSS, the favourites in the semifinal on pedigree, had to work hard against a resilient Ntare School. Jinja SSS batted first and scored 126/7 in their quota of 20 overs.

In the run chase, Ntare School failed to find second gear, and their chase ran out of steam with 55 runs still required for the win.

Jinja SSS have the pedigree in the final by virtue of being four-time winners, but Shree Sahajanand remains the only unbeaten side in the tournament, which means they will not be a pushover.

The afternoon final will crown a new champion after over a week of action.
