Uganda’s representatives at the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers, Kawempe Muslim are chasing history as they face Kenya Police Bullets in the final slated for Monday (5PM EAT) at the Kigali Pele Stadium.
Kawempe Muslim are seeking to become the first Ugandan team to clinch this title and eventually earn the sole ticket to the final tournament.Only She Corporate have managed to reach the final in the past (2022) but lost to Simba Queens.
Under the tutorship of Ayub Khalifa, the Valley Warriors have had a remarkable run in the tournament, winning all the three games they have played so far, scoring 12 goals and conceeding none.
In the group stage, they edged CBE from Ethiopia 1-0 before demolishing minnows UJECO from Djibouti with an 8-0 scoreline. In the semifinals, they faced off with CBE once again and defeated them 3-0.
Kenya Police Bullets have equally had a perfect run, including outwitting South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars 5-0 in the semifinals.
The Kenyan outfit has familar faces for Kawempe including Margret Kunihira and Hadijjah Nandago who formerly played for the Valley Warriors.
The other Ugandans on the team include; Sandra Kisakye, Desire Natooro Katisi and Daisy Nakaziro.
As earlier mentioned, the regional Champions will earn the sole ticket to the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
