1st Shyaka Cup Entebbe (Football):
- Kiwafu Central 2-3 Lugonjo Nakiwogo
The first edition of the Shyaka Cup Entebbe football tournament officially kicked off at the historical Kiwafu playground on Sunday, 30th August 2026.
This three-month tourney is organised by the Entebbe Municipality Member of Parliament Hon. Steven Shyaka Gashaija.


State Minister of Sports Hon. Peter Ogwang was chief guest during the opening match where Lugonjo Nakiwogo overcame neighbours Kiwafu Central 3-2 in an entertaining match.
Sam Busingye scored a brace for Kiwafu Central. Lugonjo Nakiwogo’s three goals came from Huzaifa Nampagi, Brian Muwayira and Brian Mukiibi.


The official opening ceremony was also graced by Hon. Rose Obigah, the Terego District women Member of Parliament, Entebbe Division A and B chairpersons, the area councillors and all the village chairpersons of all the 24 cells that make up Entebbe Municipality.
Minister Ogwang, in his address, promised the revamp of the Kiwafu Playground with an improved astro-turf playing surface and lighting system.

“From the AFCON 2027 legacy programme, I promise that the first beneficiary will be the Kiwafu playground with an artificial playground,” Hon. Ogwang vowed.
He also condemned primary school head teachers in Entebbe Municipality who still charge parents fees for the UPE school-going pupils, with a promise for a seed secondary school in Kiggungu.

Legislator Shyaka promised continuity of this tournament with the goal of unearthing raw talents in Entebbe Municipality.
“One of the purposes for this tournament is to give a platform for talent search in Entebbe Municipality. This will be an annual tournament that will go on for years and years,” Hon. Shyaka, who replaced Michael Kakembo, stated.

The Shyaka Cup Entebbe will involve all the 24 villages that make up Entebbe Municipality from the Kiwafu ward, Kigungu ward, Katabi ward, Central 1 and Central 2.
Next matches:
On Thursday, 3rd September 2026, Manyango 1 will take on Busambaga at the Entebbe SS playground.
Lunyo plays Banga Nakiwogo at the Banga playground on Friday, 4th September, whilst Kitasa shall tussle Bugonga at the Lake Victoria Primary School Playground on Saturday, 5th September 2026.


The tournament will climax on 20th December 2026 with a prize money kitty of Ug. Shs 30,000,000 to be distributed among the top performers.
There will be other prizes, such as a motorbike, bull, goat, trophies, medals and certificates.
All the 24 participating villages received a full set of jerseys.
