• Game 2: U-19 World Cup Qualifiers
  • Host: Tanzania
  • RESULT: Uganda 42/5 beat Tanzania 41 all out by 5 wickets

Uganda’s Baby Victoria Pearls keep their World Cup hopes alive with a five-wicket win against the hosts, Tanzania.

In a must-win clash for the youngsters, the slow bowling options of Michelle Ariago (2/8), Sarah Tino (2/10) and Sheila Namagoba (2/11) were destructive, limiting Tanzania to 41 all out.

In the reply, Uganda lost its top order very cheaply, and at 12/5 they were reeling until Joan Ilora (14 not out) and Irene Mutonyi (9 not out) took care of business to bring up a five-wicket win.

The win will settle the nerves a bit for Uganda, but they will need to win against Malawi in their final group game and hope that Nigeria wins against Tanzania to avoid any calculations.

If Tanzania defeats Nigeria by a big margin, it could make things complicated for Uganda even if they win against Malawi.
