NEC head coach Badru Kaddu and his Lugazi counterpart Abbey Kikomeko want their teams to maintain perfect start when they face off on match day two at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
The hosts began the 2026/27 campaign with a 2-0 victory building on what a wonderful second half of last season in which they lost once (4-1 to Villa) despite an awful start under Hussein Mbalangu before Kaddu was hired.
For Lugazi, they overcame league debutants Kigezi Home Boyz 2-1 with former NEC forward Cromwell Rwothomio scoring the opener before ex-Vipers defender Livingstone Mulondo won it late in injury time.
NEC, who have won four of the five encounters between the two sides are without Muhammad Senoga Kagawa, the only likely change from the team that started against Lugogo rivals KCCA on Saturday.
On the other hand, the visitors will continue to play without Abdul Kalanzi, arguably their best player from last season who is still nursing an injury.
With Rwothomio bitterly leaving NEC, he will be desperate to hurt them which adds to the spectacle anticipated in the game.

“We have prepared our boys well. We performed well, scored two goals and didn’t concede and we shall entrust the lads with the same responsibility. Lugazi, just like us are premier league team and so we can’t underrate them. But I trust we have a team that can beat anyone.”
Abbey Kikomeko (Lugazi head coach)
“The preparations we had during off season gave us a good start and we shall approach the game against NEC in the same manner as we did in the 2-1 win over Kigezi Home Boyz.
“NEC is a tough team and will have home advantage but we shall go there and fight for three points.”
At Hamz stadium, Nakivubo, Entebbe UPPC face off with UPDF – both share home after their respective stadiums were not passed to host matches this season.
