Express head coach Morley Byekwaso Ochayma has heaped praise on his charges for a spirited performance against KCCA on Friday.
The Red Eagles showed character as they defeated city rivals KCCA 2-0 in the Kampala derby played on Friday at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo. Isaac Wagoina and Derrick Ddungu aka Rickman scored the all important goals for the Red Eagles.
Byekwaso, a former coach at KCCA indicated the result was imoortant in terms of bringing motivation to the team but also in the context of a tough fixture ahead of them.
“This result meant a lot to us, the first game reflected what we could do in the second game because we played well against BUL but didn’t get a good result. It wasn’t easy, when you play against a team like KCCA but we did a lot of work to make sure we suffocate their dangerous areas. When you look at our fixture, our next games are still tough but we must approach them with the same character like we did today,” he said.
Byekwaso was delighted with the performance of his charges, who competed throughout the game.
“I must thank the players for a wonderful display, they competed from the first minute and didn’t frown at any one moment. That belief and confidence helped to push us all the way.”
The coach however insists, there is more work today and the result against KCCA should not get into their mind.
“We are not yet there and I don’t want to be taken away by today’s win because this is a League and there so many games ahead of us so, we must remain focused and keep improving in areas we didn’t do well.”
Express will return to action on Wednesday next week with yet another Kampala derby against sworn enemies SC Villa.
