Ethiopian coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has left KCCA Women Football Club after the expiration of his contract. The club confirmed the development on Monday, indicating the coach has left his role.
“KCCA Women FC confirms that Head Coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has departed the club following the conclusion of his contract.”
Hailegebreal joined KCCA Women (Formerly Kampala Queens) in 2024 on a two-year contract, helping the team gain success on the pitch.
He led the team to their second FUFA Women Super League title during the 2024/25 season. Last season, he guided the team to winning the FUFA Women’s Cup, defeating Kawempe Muslim in the final.
“Coach Asefa has been an important part of our journey, providing leadership, discipline and commitment both on and off the pitch. Under his guidance, the team created memorable moments, including FUFA Women Super League and FUFA Women’s Cup trophies added to the cabinet,” the club writes.
KCCA Women FC continues to undergo massive changes. Recently, the club changed its name from Kampala Queens to KCCA, with the City authority buying 30% of the shares.
A new coach is expected to be named soon, and the club is also expected to hit the market to improve the squad. Already, forward Nusulah Nakintu was confirmed as their first signing.
