Hassan Mubiru couldn’t hide his glee following his first goal for Azam in a 2-0 win over Namungo on Monday at the Azam Complex in Chamazi.
The ex-SC Villa winger, with two assists already this season was in the right place at the right time to stab home in the 27th minute to maintain Azam’s unbeaten start to the 2026/27 NBC Premier League.
“The game was good though it was never easy and we thank Allah for the victory,” an elated Mubiru said in a post-match reaction.
“This goal means a lot to me. It is going to push me harder for more goals and this is a good start for me to score in the Tanzania league. You know it is a bit different from our league (UPL) where I came from so I thank Allah for this,” he added.
Mubiru thanked the Azam fans who he said are a great motivation to the team to push hard and promises that the Ice Cream Makers want to push for the title this season.
“To the fans, we thank you for the support. It was really amazing and your support means a lot to us and it pushes us so that we can deliver good for you.
“This season, we are chasing the trophy this season and we need the fans wherever you are to come and be behind us.”
The Azam no. 27, voted the official Man of the Match dedicated his accolade to his mother and appreciated his teammates for making it happen.
“Thank you, my teammates. This accolade, I dedicate it to my mum (Nakandi Aidah) and I thank you for your effort.”
Azam are on 14 points, one adrift of leaders Young Africans and Simba who they face next in the NBC Premier League.
