The vibrant alumni of Mbarara High School and Maryhill High School are expected to light up Mbarara High School playgrounds (The Kraal) on 19th September 2026 in a grand finale dubbed “Obunuzi”.
Following a tranquil competitive regular season that climaxed at the NEC playgrounds in Bugolobi, the quarterfinal draws have been held at the Inspire Café, next to Twed Towers in Kampala on Wednesday, 9th September 2026.
The draw was overseen by the head of technical affairs at Chaapa League, Douglas Ainamani.
Rwizi face the Zulu Warriors Dingiswayo in a mouth-watering clash. CF Burdizo will tussle Rugabo City as See Far faces Bull Old Timers in the other contest.
The other quarterfinal duel pitted the Rubber Bullets; Yobo Yobo (class of 2006) against CHOGM (class of 2003) to decide who will progress to the semifinals, before the subsequent finals to crown the champion for the 11th season.
Kennedy Gumisiriza, the president of Chaapa League, calls upon the alumni and well-wishers to grace this epic climax as he applauds all the sponsors and supportive partners.
“We had a very successful regular season where the top eight marched to the quarters. Today, we held the draw, and it is known who faces who. I call upon the alumni and well-wishers to come up in big numbers on 19th September 2026 for the grand finale at Mbarara High School playgrounds. It will be a fun day with more than football to showcase. I thank all our sponsors, led by Guinness, for standing with us throughout the season,” Gumisiriza, who is handing over power for a new regime, spoke to the media.
Guinness brand manager Denise Paula Nazzinda reaffirms the commitment to support the Chappa League and all school alumni leagues, given the fond lasting memories created.
“Guinness is committed to supporting the Chappa League and other alumni leagues. The excitement goes beyond the field of play. We create lasting memories,” Nazzinda attested.
Besides football on the field of play, the Chaapa League has also provided avenues for other community-engaging activities and Corporate Social Responsibility Causes as medical camps, a holistic run for wellness and team building, tree planting and a bold plan to visit Ruharo Hospital to donate Mama kits for expectant mothers.
The Chaapa League was started in 2017 and has continued to grow rapidly.
School Alumni leagues are popular today, as different old students from various schools have come together to organize sports activities that bring them together as they rekindle old memories from their school days, network and exercise for a good cause.
