Uganda’s Cricket Cranes picked up their second win at the ILT20 Cup in Kigali in a quiet manner, winning by five wickets against Botswana.
Botswana won the toss and elected to bat first. The Cricket Cranes made one change to the side, with Enock Kasaija coming in for Cosmas Kyewuta.
Juma Miyaji (2/9) kept things very quiet while his new ball partner, Enock Kasaija, struggled with his length on his T20I debut.
Botswana never hit second gear but consistently scored runs at a rate of five per over. Joseph Baguma (3/14) ripped through the middle and tail, and Botswana could only manage 101/7 in their quota of 20 overs.
In the chase, Anas Baig again failed to make a meaningful contribution at the top, but his opening partner Robinson Obuya (51) put his hand up with a well-crafted unbeaten half-century.
Charles Musemeza (15) and Gerald Olipa (24) came and went, but the damage was done, even if Uganda lost a couple of wickets at the back end.
Uganda got over the line without any more damage and picked up their second win of the tournament by five wickets, a perfect record for the defending champions as they chase a third title.
The team will be back in action tomorrow against the hosts Rwanda.
