Top-flight newcomers URA Ladies FC have continued their aggressive recruitment campaign ahead of their maiden season in the FUFA Women Super League, completing the marquee acquisition of Crested Cranes forward Zaina Namuleme on a two-year contract.

Namuleme joins the URA Ladies FC as a free agent following a stint in the Rwandan Women’s Premier League with Rayon Sport Women FC.

Her addition is a major statement of intent for URA Ladies, who earned promotion to Uganda’s top division after an impressive unbeaten run in the 2025/26 FUFA Women Elite League, capped by a 1-0 playoff final win over Jinja United at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

By bringing in an experienced player with established pedigree both locally and across the border, the club’s technical bench aims to add crucial experience to a squad adjusting to the rigours of elite-level football.

“Her arrival adds experience, quality, and international pedigree to the squad as the technical team continues to assemble a competitive group capable of meeting the club’s targets at the highest level,” the club said in an official statement.

Namuleme becomes the third significant arrival at the club during the current transfer window, following the acquisitions of Shamusa Najjumah and Patience Nabulobi, both recruited from rival side KCCA Women FC.

The newly assembled side will get an immediate test of their credentials on September 20, 2026, when URA Ladies open their top-flight campaign with a high-profile clash against KCCA Women FC.
