The former Amus College School student saluted the fellow players and coaches for the collective effort.

“It has been a good start to win 4-1. It is good to start the tournament with a win. I thank my fellow players and coaches. Having scored my first goal for the country, it gives me special joy,” Odiya remarked.

Slow start

Odiya acknowledged the slow start to the game, where they missed a lot of chances to bury the game early.

“We missed a lot of chances and opportunities in the first half. The coaches fixed a lot of things as we returned to the dressing room, especially positioning. It worked, I think, because in the second half, we scored more goals and defended well,” he added.
