At least twenty participants graced the 2026 Uganda Indoor Rowing Championships held at the Amrap Sports Club in Kampala.
Of these, four gallant ladies and fourteen gentlemen from different clubs competed in the 500m sprints.
Nusufu Namukwaya, Cinderella Ingabire, and Phionah Katushabe were among the female participants.

“It was such a great championship where the participants showed great courage to compete ahead of the upcoming domestic, regional, continental and international events,” Ingabire, who is also the assistant team manager for Team Uganda, remarked after the event.

“The level of competition was top-notch, with the ladies also close in the competition,” Namukwaya, a safeguarding officer, hinted.
The Rowing Cranes crew, captained by Darius Okello, also had the likes of Sharifu Lukwago, Joel Luyimbazi and Pius Kigundu, with Henry Ssemugooma as coach.

Okello and Lukwago shone with good times at this championship, a precursor to future engagements in the region, on the African continent and globally.
Uganda Rowing Vice President Ivan Dean Odongo pleads for more ergometers that can be used in the different corners of the country in a bid to spread the game of rowing across Uganda.
