Life for footballer Sadam Masereka has been a rollercoaster of a journey worth living.

From a little boy in Kasese, Masereka gallantly worked his way to the summit; first as a champion in the East African Secondary Schools Football Championship (with Buddo S.S.) to being summoned to the Uganda U-20 (Hippos) and U-23 (Kobs) teams.

As a teen, he featured for several topflight clubs in Uganda, including Nyamityobora, BUL and lately Sports Club Villa before he moved to the United States of America for an educational scholarship at the University of Maryland.

Earlier this year, Masereka signed with Colorado Springs Switchbacks Football Club, where he has since impressed with 4 goals and 6 assists in over 30 outings.

The blistering form has lured the Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put to summon the fast-paced player.

For Masereka, it is a dream realised to elevate to the senior national team (Cranes) having played for the Hippos and Kobs.

“Representing my country in the youth teams was a great honor for me, but being called up to the senior team, The Cranes, has always been a dream of mine,” he opened up.

Appreciation

Masereka made 22 years on 9th September 2026. He has lauded the efforts everyone in his swift footballing journey.

“I want to thank everyone who has believed in me along the way. My family, coaches, and friends. Thank you to my club, Switchbacks FC, and my teammates for pushing me every day. And thanks to the Cranes staff for believing in me and giving me this call-up. I am truly humbled and grateful,” he adds.
