SC Villa secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Kigezi HomeBoyz in a Uganda Premier League clash at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, on Tuesday.
Patrick Kakande set the tone early, opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the 15th minute.
Kigezi HomeBoyz goalkeeper Norman Angufidru mistimed his attempt to claim the ball and collided with Kakande, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot.
Just three minutes later, Aslam Semakula doubled the Jogoo’s advantage, capitalizing on static HomeBoyz defending to fire a brilliant strike past Angufidru.
Villa continued to threaten and nearly made it 3-0 in the 37th minute, but John Asiimwe sent his effort over the bar from close range.
Kigezi HomeBoyz returned for the second half with greater intent, committing more bodies forward in search of a route back into the game, but lacked sharp execution in the final third.
Substitute Andrew Otim almost made an immediate impact in the 67th minute when Kakande set him up, but his effort whizzed narrowly wide of the target.
Asiimwe was then denied again eight minutes later, failing to direct another clear-cut opportunity past the keeper.
Villa finally put the result beyond doubt with 10 minutes remaining. Otim rose highest inside a crowded box to head home Brian Mato’s pinpoint corner kick, wrapping up a commanding performance.
The win lifts SC Villa to third place in the UPL standings with 10 points from four matches, while Kigezi HomeBoyz remain languishing in 15th with a single point, albeit with a game in hand.
