Excitement filled Entebbe International Airport on Tuesday morning as over 20 Sunshine Tour golf professionals arrived in Uganda ahead of the Pearl of Africa (POA) Golf Series at Entebbe Club.
The group was received by a team of officials from the POA golf series organising committee led by Juliet Anena and the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), a key strategic partner.
A traditional dance troupe warmly ushered in the visitors with dances and enticing drumming.

“We are excited to be in Uganda for golf and tourism,” Ellandro Van Heerden, a member of the Bloemfontein Club, spoke to the media moments after arrival.
Lucas Kyle, a Sunshine Development Tour representative and Satellite Tour manager, was also part of the group that checked in at Central Inn Hotel in Entebbe.
“We are happy to be here. We anticipate a competitive tournament with the finest players across the continent taking part,” Lucas said.
The championship in Entebbe is dubbed the “East African Swing” with a total kitty of Uganda Shs. 70,000,000.

This is Uganda’s first Official World Ranking professional golf tournament under the Sunshine Development & BET Tour.
Domestic professionals will be led by the on-fire Ronald Rugumayo, fresh from winning the prestigious Uganda Professional Open and the MTN Pro Tee tournament at UGC and Entebbe Clubs, respectively.











It will not be a mere walk in the park for Rugumayo, as he is expected to face stiff competition from Phillip Kasozi, Abraham Ainamani, Rodel Gaita, Deo Akope, Marvin Kibirige, Davis Kato, Herman Mutebi, Grace Kasango, Tom Jingo, David Kamulindwa, Silver Opio, Vincent Byamukama, among others, who will gel with the best Sunshine Tour players in a 54-hole championship.


The golfers will then after have a unique experience to tour Uganda in a boost of the tourism sector for the country.
