Uganda Premier League side KCCA FC lead the race to sign forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe.
Reports indicate that the Kasasiro Boys have agreed to terms with the striker, thus nearing his return to the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.
KCCA is close to beating out fierce competition from title rivals Vipers SC for Ahimbisibwe’s signature, largely thanks to head coach Brian Ssenyondo, who shares a strong relationship with the player.
The Lugogo-based club has struggled for form upfront, scoring in only one of their opening four games. Ahimbisibwe’s arrival is expected to immediately fix their lingering goalscoring troubles.
The forward was the league’s top scorer last season, with his prolific form guiding KCCA to a second-place finish.
His standout performances attracted international interest from Tanzanian giants Azam FC and Iraq’s Zakho SC.
Ahimbisibwe ultimately completed a move to Iraq, but after Zakho SC failed to honor their contractual obligations, he terminated his agreement and opted to return home.
Upon learning of his availability, Vipers intensified talks in an attempt to hijack the deal, but KCCA acted swiftly to secure his return.
