Seven players who ply their trade in the Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cranes officials departed the country for Tunisia in preparation for the upcoming AFCON 2027 qualifier this coming week.
Led by the head coach Paul Joseph Put, the squad has two goalkeepers David Lukwago (SC Villa) and Hannington Ssebwalunyo (NEC), Gift Jonathan Odongo (Entebbe UPPC), Geofrey Lubanga Kene SC Villa), Hillary Mukundane (Vipers), Richard Basangwa (NEC) and Frank Sebufu (SC Villa).
They are expected to camp in Tunis and they will be joined by the rest of the foreign based legion.
The rest of the summoned players who ply their trade outside Uganda will fly direct to Tunisia.

AFCON 2027 Qualifiers:
Uganda plays Tunisia away at the Tunis – Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi (Rades) on 24th September 2026.
Five days later, Uganda Cranes will entertain Libya at the Hoima City Stadium.
This will be first international game for Uganda Cranes at Hoima City Stadium, one of the facilities for AFCON 2027 in East Africa.
International friendlies:
Uganda Cranes has also set up two international build-up matches in early October, both against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Both matches will be in Johannesburg city, South Africa.
The first game will be on 2nd October 2026 and the second on 5th October 2026.
