Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) football club playmaker Saidi Mayanja looks ahead of his career with a bright beam of hope.
Named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the season opening 2026 FUFA Super 8 tournament at Hamz stadium, Mayanja envisages a competitive but fruitful season.
“We started the season by winning the FUFA Super 8 trophy but we have since struggled at the start of the season. We expect to perform better as the season moves along and also win some silverware” the midfielder reflects.
Mayanja is a vivid U-20 graduate from the KCCA junior ranks where he also guided the team to the Cambiaso championship.
His exploits lured the eyes of the Uganda U-20 (Hippos) technical team where he played several matches, with the highlight scoring against Congo in the AFCON U-20 championship.
Mayanja played in the CHAN 2025 qualifiers; featuring in the home and away duels against Burundi played at Nakivubo (Hamz stadium).
He was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that qualified to the AFCON 2025 finals in Morocco and in the same year, also won the FUFA Drum.
Mayanja’s star keeps shining given the high notch discipline and exceptional work ethic as he boldly testifies.
“I grew up from a humble family. Respect for others, humility, hardwork and discipline were core values I learnt from childhood. I therefore looks forward upholding all of them” he adds.
Mayanja hails from a family of eight children in Kyotera, central Buganda.
He started his football journey at MYDEL football academy and Edgars Youth Programme.
He studied and played football at Old Kampala S.S, Kawempe Muslim S.S and Kibuli S.S
He has already featured for the Uganda U-20, U-23, CHAN team and also made the squad for the senior national team, Uganda Cranes with professional football dreams outside the boundaries of Uganda still realistic.
Winning the 14th Uganda Premier League title for KCCA remains a top priority for Mayanja and all the clubmates.
