Uganda’s representatives, Namuwongo Blazers Basketball Club, now know the precise hurdles standing between them and the Elite 16 phase of the 2027 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
According to official competition details released by FIBA Africa, the Blazers have been placed in East Division Group D.
To advance, the Namuwongo-based side must finish among the top two teams in a group stacked with regional powerhouses.
The opposition lined up for the Blazers includes Urunani BBC (Burundi), Patriots BBC (Rwanda), COSPN BBC (Madagascar) and Ushundzi BBC (Comoros).
The tournament will feature a round-robin group phase from October 23 to October 26, 2026, in Hoima.
The top two teams at the end of the group stage will qualify directly for the East Division Elite 16, which is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 24 to November 29, 2026.
The Blazers are gearing up for the challenge as they look to build on their 2014 founding roots and put Ugandan basketball on the map once again.
Will they finally overcome this challenging hurdle? It’s a significant moment as they will play in front of their home crowd.
