Defender Jonathan Odongo is ready to seize the opportunity of earning a call to the Uganda Cranes team with both hands, indicating he is eager to learn from the best within the squad.
The right back who plies his trade with Entebbe UPPC in the Uganda Premier League caught the eye of coach Paul Put, thus earning his maiden call on the national team.
Odongo who is currently with the team in Tunis as they prepare to face Tunisia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers this Saturday believes learning never stops and he is willing to do so.
“Learning never stops and indeed this being my first time on the national team, I have to learn from players Denis Onyango who have been here for sometime and know what it means to play for Uganda Cranes.” He said.
Odongo states they are in perfect shape since arriving in Tunisia and believes they are ready to fight for a positive result in the first game.
“We arrived here safely and everyone is in perfect shape. So I believe we shall perform to our best to make sure we get a positive result.” Odongo promised.
Uganda despite qualifying for AFCON 2027 as co-hosts alongside Kenya and Tanzania will still feature in the qualification phase and is in the same group with Tunisia, Libya and Botswana.
