Uganda School of the Deaf, Ntinda has a new sports facility renovated courtesy of Tecno and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).
This facility which has an astro-turf and well protected with a wire mesh was officially opened for use on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026.
KCCA officials led by the Deputy Executive Director Benon Kigenyi, Tecno delegation, the Uganda School of the Deaf management committee, teachers and students as well as the general community were present.
Moses Ocoman, a former professional footballer with Onduparaka and Paidha Black Angels also graced this occasion.
This project cost at least $20,000, is part of Tecno’s Dream on the field campaign, created to give young people better spaces to discover their talents, build confidence and pursue their dreams through sport.
“We are glad to have renovated the Uganda School for the Deaf playground which is part of Tecno’s Dream on the field campaign. The plan is to have over 100 pitches renovated across Africa. This playground will be used by over 200 children and the community. We look forward working with more partners on board. Every dream deserves a field to grow on” Edna, an official from Tecno Uganda remarked.
The Deputy Executive Directive of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Benon Kigenyi committed support to the development of para-sports in Kampala and Uganda as a country.
“KCCA is humbled to be part of this project of improving sports facilities as we develop sports. We are gearing the development of para-sports in particular” Kigenyi remarked.
Dr Agnes Nakku Jolooba, the chairperson of the management committee for Uganda School of the Deaf Ntinda expressed gratitude to the partners that helped to renovate this facility.
“We are very grateful for KCCA and Tecno for their efforts to have the playing field renovated at the Uganda School of the Deaf Ntinda. It will be very useful to our learners and the community”
Dorren Agondeza, the head teacher Uganda School for the Deaf, Ntinda – Kampala was full of praise for the supportive partners, KCCA and Tecno. She highlighted the value of such a facility to the learners.
On behalf of Uganda School for the Deaf Ntinda, I take our heartfelt appreciation to Tecno for this wonderful contribution. This is not simply a football pitch, It is an investment for the health and confidence of our learners. As a school for Deaf learners, we strongly believe that every child deserves an opportunity to discover and develop their talents. Sports play a very important role in the lives our learners. Through football and other games, our children develop teamwork, discipline, leadership, confidence, physical fitness and social skills. This new pitch will provide our learners with suitable space to play.
