The final of the 2026 CECAFA U-20 championship will be played at the Uhuru stadium in Dar-es-salaam city, Tanzania on Thursday, 24th September.
Host country Tanzania takes on Sudan in the gold medal match at 3:30 PM.
For the early-kick off at 12:30 PM, Uganda will square up against Burundi in the bronze medal duel.
Tanzania eliminated Burundi 2-0 in the semi-final.
Juma Abushiri scored directly from a corner kick and Faraji Kayanda got the other goal for the hosts.
Tanzania’s goalkeeper Shabano Bakari boosts of three clean sheets, the most in the tournament so far.
Bakari is expected to produce an A-performance if Tanzania is to win the championship before the home fans.
Other key players for the Ngorongoro Stars will be Shomvi Rajabu (team captain), Bashiri Salum Kibaila, Juma Abushiri, Evastus Lukanima, among others.
During the first semi-final, Sudan recovered from an early Richard Okello goal to win the contest 3-2 courtesy of goals from Rudman Yahya Mohamed Ishag, captain Waheed Shandi Somi Elbadri and Mazin Fadul Albahli Taowr.
Derrick Ssozi scored Uganda’s other goal.
Burundi’s razor sharp forward Amini Nshimirimana (captain) is the current top scorer with four goals to his name.
Sudan secured their AFCON U-20 slot for the first time ever.
