The Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi city, Kenya will this Sunday (27th September 2026) be a bee-hive of activity as the annual Jubilee Live Free Bike Race returns with the 5th edition.
Having won all the four previous editions, team Uganda is buoyant and in high spirits.
The team travelled to Kenya with a massive boost of Ug.Shs 33,000,000 from Jubilee Insurance.
Lance Ismael Ssebayiga, the director cycling Tour De Uganda expressed confidence as team Uganda was officially flagged off at the Sanyuka Restaurant in Bulange, Mengo.
We are coming back to defend our title, besides the usual names, we have added other top riders that will put us in a stronger position to compete for the top spots. Some of the riders to look out for include Lawrence Lorot, Shafic Mugulu, Paul Miiro, Davis Biyinzika and Hatim Kagaba. But in total, it is a team of 100 cyclists.

Jordan Schleck Ssekanwagi, winner of the innaguaral race in 2019,bounced back to claim gold last year narrowly beating the defending champion and 2024 Olympian Charles Kagimu.
In the women main race, Maria Aleper earned silver.
For the Black Mamba category, it was a clean sweep for Uganda; Willy Kato, Dominik Mugonda and Azziz Ssempijja winning gold, silver and bronze respectively.
Augustine Ssebulime earned silver in the para category.
Ssebayiga hailed the continued support received from Jubilee Insurance Uganda.

Jubilee Insurance senior manager marketing and communications Camilla Mindru challenged the team not to busk in the glory of the previous editions urging that there are always new territories to conquer.
Last year, you delivered string performances across the different categories. That is a strong foundation, but we can aim even higher this year. The goal should be to compete for the top spot in every category and see how far we can push ourselves as Team Uganda. For Jubilee Insurance, this is much more than a race, it is happening about sustainability, physical empowerment and holistic wellness, which are central to our Live free Philosophy. We want to encourage people to stay active, make healthier choices and live to their full potential without being held back by the unexpected. The race brings these ideas to life by creating an opportunity for people of all ages to get active, connect and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.

The race will feature a total prize purse of more than UGX 100, 000,000 as the cyclists will compete in six categories including the main Race, Team Race, Black Mamba, Family Fun Ride, Kiddies and Para Cyclist categories.
