The tension at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, has reached a fever pitch as the FUBA Division One and Division Two playoffs arrive at their ultimate crossroads.
On Sunday, September 27, eight high-stakes Game 3 clashes will determine which resilient squads finish off their opponents and march triumphantly into the semifinals.
With all but one men’s Division One series deadlocked at 1-1, there is no more room for error, and the dream of climbing back to the prestigious National Basketball League (NBL) hangs in the balance.
The stakes are higher than ever this season, following a bruising 2026 campaign that saw four teams relegated from the top flight.
In the women’s division, Angels Basketball Club suffered a difficult 2-18 season, sealed by a 56-36 defeat to UCU Lady Canons, while Nabisunsa Girls Basketball Club joined them after falling 77-70 to the Miracle Eaglets.
Meanwhile, the men’s NBL witnessed the heartbreak of the UPDF Tomahawks, whose drop was confirmed by a 67-62 loss to Victoria University Crocs on June 14, 2026 and the Kampala Rockets, who finished at the bottom of the standings.
Now, a fresh wave of hungry contenders is fighting tooth and nail to claim those vacant elite spots.

On Court Two, the action tips off at 10 am with a gripping women’s showdown between Makerere Sparks and St Cyprian Kyabakadde. Makerere took Game One 57-52, but Kyabakadde struck back with a 67-64 win in Game Two.
The victor will advance to face Seeta High in the semifinals after Seeta eliminated Nkumba. At 12 pm, top seed iHoops will fight for survival against YMCA Hamstars.
After a shock 60-68 defeat in Game One, Ihoops bounced back 70-67 to force this decider, with the winner moving on to meet KIU Titans, conquerors of Miracle Eagles.
The drama continues at 2 pm as Watoto locks horns with Entebbe Knight Riders. The Knight Riders captured a tight opening game 49-41, but Watoto answered with an edgy 63-62 victory. Entebbe has knocked on the NBL promotion door for years and believes this is their moment, though Watoto stands ready to make history.
Before dreaming of promotion, however, one must survive the semifinal hurdle. Later, Berkley and Nkumba Marines clash in a battle of survival. Berkley entered Division One this year as 2025 Division Two champions and started strong, but a late-season slide dropped them to the number three seed.
After Nkumba took Game One 63-59 in the final seconds and Berkley leveled with a 72-61 win, both teams remain four wins away from the NBL, but everything starts with this Game Three.
Division 2 action is equally fierce, starting at 10 am on Court One where the Governors meet the Makindye Shooters. Governors claimed Game One 75-65, but Mador Madiak led Makindye to an 83-76 comeback in Game Two.
At 12 pm, St Cyprian chases back-to-back league promotions against Metha Phenoms, who erased an initial 57-47 deficit with a 72-61 victory in Game Two. Finally, Ndejje Angels and Kampala University Eagles close out the Division Two action at 2 pm. Kampala University cruised through a 65-40 win in Game One, but former NBL side Ndejje fought back with a 55-51 win in Game Two to set the stage for an explosive finish.
At 4 pm, JT Junior Lady Jaguars and MUBS Lady Jills face off in what could be a low-scoring thriller. MUBS took Game One 53-42 before JT Junior answered 45-41, and now the winner of the decider advances to face top seed Kampala University.
