In other matches, Algeria beat Zambia 3-1 to take early charge of Group I with Togo also claiming a 1-0 win over Burundi, Burkina Faso and Benin drew 1-1 in group F while Mauritania overcame Central African Republic.
Match day one completes on Saturday with Afcon 2027 co-hosts Kenya hosting Eritrea while South Africa take on Guinea in group D.
