Uganda Cranes lead Libya at halftime of the 2027 AFCON Qualifiers match at the Hoima City Stadium.
Arnold Vula nodded for Uganda Cranes at the stroke of half-time.
The Cranes started on the front foot, utilising the roving full-backs Nathan Asiimwe and Aziz Kayondo.
In the 10th minute, Rogers Ochaki Torach failed to clear his lines, but Denis Onyango was quick to come off the line, thus closing out Libya’s Ezzeddin Elmaremi.
Five minutes later, Allan Okello released a running Assimwe but no one was there to make contact with the good delivery.
In the 23rd minute, goalkeeper Denis Onyango made a big save to deny Ezzedin from close range.
With five minutes to conclude the first stanza, Rogers Mato nearly broke the deadlock, but his volley from outside the area went slightly wide.
Once again, Okello and Asiimwe combined to search for Arnold Vula but Ali Yousuf Abraheem made a timely interception.
At the brink of the opening stanza, Arnold Vula nodded home Allan Okello’s free kick into the back of the net to give the home side the lead.
