I’m one of Denis Onyango’s strong supporters, and there’s no denying his experience and quality. However, regardless of how good he is, I believe Uganda needs to start giving more opportunities to young, aggressive players who can bring greater intensity and energy to the game.
What concerns me is the unnecessary slowing down of play and the lack of urgency in certain moments. At this stage, Uganda should be thinking seriously about developing and trusting the next generation of players. It’s also surprising to see our players struggle to control long balls and passes,basic technical skills that need to be improved if we want to compete at a higher level.
