Uganda Cranes has called for patience on the new additions to the team, insisting it will take time for them to jell with the rest of the squad.
Before the encounter against Libya, FUFA revealed nine players of Ugandan heritage who were added to the squad with Noble Okello and Nathan Asiimwe playing in the game against Tunisia.
The other players namely; Arnold Vula, Abdoulaye Sissako, Akpan David Udoh, Dieudonne Gaucho Debohi, Souleyman Diaby, Kindom Osayi and Kelvin Owusu Boateng have since been with the team in camp.
Vula and Boateng made their debut in the 1-0 win over Libya on Tuesday with the former scoring the lone goal of the game.
Asked to assess the performance of the aforementioned players, Put said he was impressed but believes they will need some time to settle in.
“We always have to be patient with them. You don’t expect miracles but I think the start of Vula was very good with a fantastic goal but we need to give them time and the good thing they are steadily getting on with the rest of the team well.”
The team has since arrived in South Africa where they will play two friendlies against DR Congo and more of the heritage players are expected to be tested.
Uganda tops Group H on four points, two ahead of Botswana and Tunisia while Libya has one point.
“First of all I’m happy with the win. First half I think we played really well, we played against a very good team if you see their performance in the last ten games and we knew it was going to be a tough game but we need to thank the players for the performance,” he stated.
“I also want to thank the supporters for coming out in big numbers and they were behind the team throughout the game.”
