Uganda Cranes face DR Congo in the first of the two international friendly matches this Friday at the FNB stadium in Johannesburg in South Africa.

The fixture will provide head coach Paul Put an opportunity to still assess his players especially those that didn’t get chance to play against Tunisia and Libya in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Sadam Masereka and Toto Majub join the team after missing out on camp for the past matches but goalkeeper and captain Denis Onyango, right back Nathan Asiimwe, centre back Tobby Sibbick and left back Aziz Kayondo reportedly didn’t travel.

Put could also offer chance to new faces Abdoulaye Sissako, Akpan David Udoh, Dieudonne Gaucho Debohi, Souleyman Diaby and Kingdom Osayi as well as Uganda Premier League players led by goalkeepers David Lukwago and Hannington Ssebwalunyo.

The other players Arnold Vula and Kelvin Owusu Boateng could also be handed more minutes after featuring for 59 and 61 minutes respectively in the 1-0 win over Libya at Hoima City stadium on Tuesday.

James Bogere, Joseph Sseremba, Gavin Kizito and Hilary Mukundane could also be given opportunity.

It will be the first time since 2023 that Uganda faces DR Congo after the international friendly game which the leopards won 1-0.

In the past seven meetings, Uganda hold edge with four wins [L2, D1].
