FUFA has on Friday confirmed Asefa Firew Hailegebreal as the new head coach for the Uganda Women’s National Teams. These include the senior team (Crested Cranes), Queen Cranes (U20) and the Teen Cranes (U17)
Hailegebreal was unveiled on a two-year deal in a function that took place at the FUFA Headquarters in Mengo, Kampala.
The Ethiopian tactician is not new to Uganda, having been at Kampala Queens (now KCCA Women) for the last two years where he won both the FUFA Women Super League and the FUFA Women’s Cup.
He had formerly coached the national teams of Ethiopia (Senior and Junior Women Teams) before joining Kampala Queens.
He replaces Sheryl Botes Ulanda whose contract was not renewed and thus parted ways with FUFA.
Hailegebreal comes in at the time when Uganda is preparing to face Zambia in the Olympic Qualifiers this month.
Uganda will host the first leg on 8th October at Hamz Stadium with the return leg slated for the follow weekend in Lusaka.
