FIFA President Gianni Infantino and FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development Arsene Wenger will grace the CAF Strategy Conference slated for October 7-9 in Cape Verde.

The Strategy, according to CAF, seeks to shape the next phase of African football development, bringing together leading decision-makers, coaches and football experts.

The Conference comes after Africa’s record participation at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where 10 national teams represented the continent, and nine progressed to the knockout stages.

Their performances will form an important part of discussions as CAF examines what worked, what can be improved and how African teams can become even more competitive by the FIFA World Cup 2030.

Infantino will be one of the guest speakers joining CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe, while Wenger joins a host of African tacticians including Mohamed Ouahbi (Morocco head coach), Pedro Brito Bubista (former Cabo Verde coach and now at the helm of RS Berkane in Morocco), Hossam Hassan (Egypt head coach), Sébastien Desabre (DR Congo head coach) and Carlos Quieroz (former Ghana head coach).

The conversation will also go beyond men’s football and focus on women’s and youth football. Malawi and Algeria will be debutants at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 in Brazil.

All Presidents of CAF’s 54 Member Associations, National team coaches and International Football Experts are expected to attend the three-day workshop.

The Strategy hinges on three key pillars, namely: strengthening football development and sustainability across Africa, analysing Africa’s FIFA World Cup 2026 performance, and building a stronger pathway towards FIFA World Cup 2030.
