Eng. Isaac Mubarak Ngobya_Chairman of Former Footballers Initiative

After close to three years of associating, Former Footballers Initiative (FFI) and Icon Medicare Service Uganda formalized their partnership with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on Tuesday October 6, 2026 at the initiative’s offices at BMK House, Kampala.

The historic moment saw FFI chairman Hajji Isaac Mubarak Ngobya and Icon Medicare Services Director Dr. Marvin Nicholas append their signatures on the MoU with several members as witnesses.

“We are delighted that after 2-3 years of working together, we now have a binding MoU with Icon Medicare Services,” said FFI chairman Ngobya.

“As an initiative to setup to address plight for ex-footballers, this is very welcome because we understand that some of the players suffered injuries while playing but besides that, there are natural health issues that need to addressed and this partnership comes at the right time,” he added with delighted.

“Since the formation of FFI, we have lost over ten members and maybe, we could have saved some but that is it.”

On his behalf and Icon Medicare services that is located in Bulenga along Mityana Road, Dr, Marvin Nicholas went further to reveal some of the details of the services they will be offering.

“We are grateful to come to this day when we expect to put our relationship into a legally binding document (MOU),” he started.

“We have walked some distance together and achieved a lot together, but formal association will make us do better things together. As per this document, we believe that we are all okay,” he added.

“There are many services that we shall offer to FFI members free while some will be offered at subsidized costs,” emphasized Marvin.

“But in cases when we (a member) can’t offer subsidized costs, we can always talk through the leadership of the Chairman and General Secretary. In fact, with good communication, these services could extend beyond members but a family member.”

In attendance at the signing were Brian Charles Ssenyonga, Wakiso District sports officer but also part of the FFI leadership, Vice Chairman John Baptist Ntensibe, General Secretary John Kennedy Lubogo, his immediate deputy Vincent Kayonga Luganda, Publicity Saul Kizito and regional representatives Edward Baguma Ateenyi (Western) and Jimmy Ssekandi (Kampala) among others.
