Seventeen-time Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have officially completed the signing of 23-year-old goalkeeper Stuart Matovu to reinforce their goalkeeping department in the ongoing campaign.
Matovu joins the Jogoos from regional side Mutungo FC, bringing a wealth of experience gathered across grassroots competitions, regional tournaments, and university football.
The talented shot-stopper featured for Butambala in the 2025 Masaza Cup before making his mark with Makerere University Business School (MUBS) in the University Football League, where he is currently pursuing his third year of studies.
He further enhanced his profile during the 2026 Ankole Cup, where he played a pivotal role in leading his team to the trophy and earned individual recognition as the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament following a string of decisive displays between the posts.
Speaking to the club’s official website upon his unveiling, Matovu expressed delight at making the step up to the record Ugandan champions.
“I am excited to join the Jogoos. SC Villa is a big club with a rich history, and I am grateful for this opportunity,” the website quoted Matovu.
“I am ready to work hard, learn from my teammates and the goalkeeping department, and give my best every time I step on the pitch. I look forward to contributing to the team and making the Jogoos family proud,” he added.
Matovu’s arrival introduces fresh competition and depth to SC Villa’s goalkeeping department as the technical team continues to strengthen the squad.
