On a momentous day where Uganda joined the rest of the world to celebrate the annual World Squash Day, the Uganda Squash Racket Association (USRA) optimally capitalized upon the moment to spread the game to Northern Uganda in Gulu District and the West Nile region.
This followed after a tranquil three days’ Squash clinic that was held at Awach primary school with the extensive Training Of Trainers (TOT) sessions.



At least 150 participates from the different corners of northern Uganda were actively involved in this clinic where they were skilled with Squash knowledge.
The hosts Gulu city were joined by participants from Lira, Terego, Kitgum, Yumbe, Zombo, Lamwo, Oyam, Pader, Nebbi, Koboko and others.

We had a great Training of Trainers for Squash coaches in Gulu with over 150 participants coming over from the different parts of Northern Uganda. The Uganda Squash Racket Association’s target is spreading the sport to different parts of the country so that they can be in line with the new NCS sports law.

The Gulu district sport officer Ojara Sunday Braxton called upon the trained group to start training Squash to others people in their respective district as the only way of making this sport grow faster in Uganda.
“I am very honoured to have the Uganda Squash Rackets Association here in Gulu. USRA has made my work very easy and I will make sure that Squash thrives in Gulu with great implementation” Ojara hinted.




Jane Achora Obura from Apwoyo primary school in Lamwo district hailed the organizers of this clinic for the skills impacted unto them.
“I will immediately enroll my fellow teachers at Apwoyo primary school and the learners when I go back to teach them Squash.” Achora stated.
A number of disabled participants were also engaged in this training to promote inclusiveness.


Last month, USRA executed a successful Squash clinic in Jinja city with participants coming from Jinja, Iganga, Kamuli, Mayuge, Bugiri and other Eastern region districts.
The game of Squash has over the years been concentrated in Kampala, Tororo, Mbarara and other places with posh hotels where lavish squash courts are put up.
