Uganda Crested Cranes assistant head coach Collins Ahumuza has challenged the team to double their efforts when they face Zambia in Tuesday’s return leg, as they seek to secure the needed result.

Uganda head into the tough encounter with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg and will be looking to build on that lead to progress to the next stage of the qualifiers.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference, Ahumuza expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, revealing that the players travelled well and are ready for the challenge ahead.

“We are ready to play against Zambia. We travelled well as a team and we have done the needed preparations ahead of the game,” he said.

Ahumuza urged the players to raise their performance in the return leg, emphasising the importance of putting in extra effort to get the desired result against a strong Zambian side.

“I expect the girls to double their efforts in the second leg so that we get the needed result against Zambia,” he added.

The assistant coach also called upon Ugandans to rally behind the team as they pursue their target in the return fixture.

“We request all Ugandans to back up the team ahead of the much-needed game,” Ahumuza appealed.

With a slender first-leg advantage, the Crested Cranes will need to remain focused and disciplined against Zambia, knowing that the outcome of Tuesday’s encounter will determine their fate in the qualifiers.

The team will be hoping to turn their preparations and home support into a positive result as they continue their pursuit of qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games women’s football tournament.
