Christopher Bonney in action during a Kitara Football Club match

Defender Christopher Bonney remains focused for an eventful epoch at Uganda Premier League entity Kitara Football Club.

Hailing from Ghana’s capital, Accra, Bonney is a utility player comfortable at right back, left back and defensive midfield.

The former Ghana U-17 and U-20 international is currently plying his trade in the Uganda Premier League with Hoima City-based Kitara Football Club.

Since his arrival in June, he has openly expressed the desire to add to the rich history and legacy of Kitara FC, hitherto christened as “The Royals”.

“I yearn to make a positive contribution to Kitara Football Club with great displays. Since I came here (in Uganda), I have been welcomed with open hands by my fellow players, officials, fans and the media. I feel at home and will work tirelessly for the glory of this club,” Bonney says.

Kitara Football Club is currently engaged on two fronts in the Uganda Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup.

They tussle with African giants Al Ahly Sports Club from Egypt in a two-legged duel vying for a slot in the treasured group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Bonney remains one of the players ready for selection, having been involved in the two games played against Somalia’s Mogadishu City Council during the first preliminary round of the competition.

“We are active in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League and CAF Confederation Cup. We as players are all focused on the goal at hand,” Bonney hints.

Bonney commenced his career with Unistar Academy in Accra. He has since featured for Asante Kotoko, Ebusua Dwarfs and Accra Hearts of Oak, all in the Ghana Premier League.

Internationally, he has featured for the U-17, U-20 and Ghana Black Stars team with 20 overall caps under his name.

He won the Ghana Premier League twice, back-to-back with Kumasi-based Asante Kotoko in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons.

The other triumphs came in the Ghana MTN FA Cup with Hearts of Oak (2019) and Asante Kotoko (2013/14).

Bonney and the rest of the Kitara teammates are now keen on a great result against African giants Al Ahly in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
