  • Kigezi HomeBoyz FC 0-1 Entebbe UPPC

Entebbe UPPC FC did just enough to beat Kigezi HomeBoyz 1-0 in the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League on Thursday, with Reich Triomphe Kokolo’s first-half strike earning the visitors three points at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge.

Kokolo scored in the 42nd minute to settle a closely contested Matchday Seven encounter, lifting UPPC to fourth place in the table while leaving Kigezi HomeBoyz rooted at the bottom.

The hosts started with hopes of picking up points on home soil, but clear chances were hard to come by in the opening stages as both sides struggled to break the deadlock.

UPPC came close in the 25th minute when Jonathan Gift Odongo led a promising attack down the right flank. Steven Munguchi found himself inside the box, but he lost his footing, allowing the hosts to escape as the ball went out for a goal kick.

The game remained goalless until the 42nd minute, when Kokolo broke through to put UPPC ahead.

The visitors carried their advantage into the break, leaving Kigezi HomeBoyz with work to do in the second half.

The hosts made two changes at the restart, bringing on Kemis Rwothomio and Boris Nevez Kwezi for Shakidu Luki Mbaziira and William Omoding. UPPC also made a change, with Ambrose Kigozi replacing Munguchi.

Kigezi HomeBoyz later introduced Mike Waloga for Dominic Abonga as they sought a way back into the contest.

However, UPPC remained organised and continued to threaten going forward.

Around the 55th minute, Ibrahim Mugulusi sent a cross into the box, but goalkeeper Norman Angufindru punched the ball clear. The UPPC player produced a similar delivery around the hour mark, only for Angufindru to come to his side’s rescue again.

Kigezi HomeBoyz made another change in the 61st minute, bringing on Edrine Mukisa Opaala for Timothy Beinomugisha before Jonathan Tahinduka replaced Aggrey Atwongire in the 70th minute.

Despite the substitutions, the hosts could not find an equaliser.

UPPC remained dangerous in the closing stages, with Kokolo, Odongo and Ronald Kayondo continuing to trouble the Kigezi HomeBoyz defence and keep Angufindru busy.

The visitors, however, held firm at the back to protect their slender lead. Kigezi HomeBoyz pushed for a late breakthrough, but UPPC saw out the remaining minutes, including three minutes of added time, to secure the win.

The result takes UPPC to 14 points from seven matches, level with third-placed NEC FC, as they continue their push up the table.

For Kigezi HomeBoyz, the defeat leaves them bottom with just one point, earned in a home draw against KCCA FC.

UPPC will return to action on October 28 when they host Maroons FC at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo, while Kigezi HomeBoyz travel to face Police FC at Police Arena on October 27.

Elsewhere on Thursday, SC Villa beat Mbarara City FC 2-0 at Muteesa II Stadium. Frank Ssebuufu opened the scoring in the first half before Najib Yiga added the second after the break.

The day’s Matchday Seven action is scheduled to continue later at 7 p.m., with UPDF FC visiting KCCA FC at Phillip Omondi Stadium.
