Speaking after the tournament, Junior Golf Foundation President James Ondigo highlighted the importance of school competitions in nurturing young talent and broadening access to golf.
“School golf is an important pathway for introducing young people to the game and giving them opportunities to grow through competition. We are encouraged by the commitment shown by the participating schools and the progress being made through our partnerships. As we look ahead to 2027, our focus is on creating more opportunities for learners to experience golf, develop their skills and discover their potential,” said Ondigo.
The competition marked the conclusion of the 2026 NCBA Lisle Shaw Memorial Interschool Golf series, honouring the legacy of George Lisle Gordon Shaw, who served as President of the Kenya Golf Union in 1953.
The tournament brought together 89 junior golfers representing 16 schools, celebrating school pride, teamwork and the development of junior golf in Kenya.
The momentum from the interschool series also complements the Junior Golf Foundation’s Golf in Schools initiative, being advanced in Kenya in collaboration with The R&A.
The initiative aims to introduce golf to more primary school learners and establish pathways from school-based participation to organized junior golf programmes.
