Sammy Reynold Ssebaduka was the hero for KCCA on Wednesday as they earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lugazi at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

KCCA had to come from a goal down to edge Lugazi. Cromwell Rwothomio gave the visitors the lead in the 56th minute, but the hosts staged a comeback thanks to goals from substitute Charles Lwanga and Ssebaduka.

KCCA came into this game on the back of the UPDF encounter that only lasted ten minutes and was called off due to floodlights failure. FUFA is yet to make a decision on the game.

In a cagey game, Lugazi nearly got ahead when goalkeeper Mutwalibu Mugolofa fumbled a back pass from Filbert Obenchan, but the former swiftly ran back and cleared the ball before it crossed the line.

Midway through the second half, Lugazi took the lead with Rwothomio heading high to net from Frank Mulimi’s corner kick delivery.

KCCA reacted by making changes, first introducing Lwanga and Ibrahim Kasule for Emmanuel Anyama and Saidi Mayanja in the 63rd minute.

Indeed, the changes came with a spark, and Lwanga found the equaliser four minutes later when he jumped high to head from Kasule’s corner delivery.

With four minutes added onto the game, Ssebaduka was well stationed at the far post to head home from Shafik Nana Kwikiriza’s cross, another substitute who came on in place of Elvis Ngonde.

The result win took KCCA to fifth place on 13 points while Lugazi remained 13th with 8 points. The two teams will return to action over the weekend, with KCCA visiting Mbarara City on Saturday while Lugazi will host SC Villa on the same day.
