The Kakira Simbas are gearing up to attempt their first-ever win against fellow Jinja side, the Walukuba Barbarians.
In the 2026 National 15s regular league, newly promoted Kakira Simbas came close to upsetting the Barbarians, but the team from Walukuba marched home as 27-18 victors.
When Kakira hosts Walukuba at The Ruckyard in Jinja, Simbas’ Director of Rugby Saidi Atibu is well aware of the quality and threat that the Barbarians pose.
“Walukuba is a good team, so we can’t underestimate them. We have never won a game against them. We are hopeful that the coach, Charles Tomusange, has prepared the team well and that it will be a good and fair contest,” remarks Atibu.
Whereas this fixture is important for both teams, the Kakira Simbas appear to be focused on picking lessons and growing back into the 15s game ahead of the Premiership.
“In the Uganda Cup, we are looking at getting players together in preparation for the League. After the 7s season, the majority of the forwards have been off, so we want to use this Uganda Cup to gauge ourselves and also identify gaps for filling up ahead of the league,” Atibu notes.
Kakira Simbas have since announced The Ruckyard as one of their home grounds, and therefore this shall be their maiden official fixture at home.
