Two-time CAF Women’s Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns and hosts of this year’s edition, FC Masar from Egypt, took charge of proceedings in Group A after winning their respective games on matchday two.

The two teams faced off on the opening game, and the closely contested encounter ended in a barren stalemate. Therefore, today’s games meant a lot in determining their fate as far as the semifinals are concerned.

Indeed, they showed character by putting up remarkable performances to collect maximum points.

In the first game of the day, Mamelodi Sundowns edged Cameroonian outfit Lekie 2-1 to register their first win of the tournament.

Refilwe Tholakele fired the Banyana Ba Style, three minutes before the break, but Lekie were able to level matters after the break through substitute Nakoma Shalom.

However, with two minutes on the clock, Sundowns found the winner off an own goal by Yakana Makana.

The South African outfit is now joint top of Group A on four points, same as FC Masar, who cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over FUS Rabat.

Kenyan striker Jentrix Shikangwa bagged a brace while Aissatou Ba added the other goal to lead the Egyptian club to victory.

Group A action will climax on Saturday with Mamelodi Sundowns facing FUS Rabat while FC Masar will play Lekie.
